Saint Genevieve Roman Catholic Church belongs to the Diocese of Las Cruces. It was founded in the downtown area of Las Cruces in 1859 under the leadership of Father Manuel Chavez. Now it serves the devout and generous people of Las Cruces under the leadership of a dedicated staff and pastoral team.


Rev. Ricardo Bauza


Father Ricardo Bauza was born and raised in Merida, Yucatan, Mexico. He joined the Diocese of Las Cruces in January 2003. He has a bachelors degree in theology from the Graduate Theological Foundation and his Masters Degree from the University of Notre Dame. He was ordained as deacon by Bishop Ricardo Ramirez on September 8, 2004 at the Basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe and served as a deacon at Assumption Church in Roswell, New Mexico. He was ordained as priest by Bishop Ricardo Ramirez on June 11, 2005 at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Cathedral in Las Cruces. Currently part of his ministry is working in the Vocation Office at the Diocese of Las Cruces as the Co-Director of Vocations. Fr. Ricardo is committed to the pastoral care of St. Genevieve Parish. In his spare time he enjoys music, swimming, scuba diving, walking and hiking. Father Ricardo encourages you to pray for the newly ordained priests and for priestly vocations.
